Danny Thomas, born in South Gate, California, was the middle child of seven. He excelled in sports at Mater Dei High School, lettering in football, soccer, and swimming, which earned him a scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania. At Penn, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and started as a defensive end for three years.
Danny’s passion for finance led him to intern at Kidder, Peabody and PaineWebber. After graduating, he became a Sales Manager and Financial Advisor at PaineWebber in Long Beach. Following a merger with UBS and Rick Meyer’s retirement, he joined Crowell, Weedon and Company as a Partner. In August 2013, Crowell Weedon partnered with DA Davidson, sharing values of client focus, employee ownership, and community service.
Danny is active in mentoring and supporting charities, including past roles with Noble Viking Charities and Long Beach Memorial Hospital. He has also provided internships and tuition assistance for Mater Dei High School athletes.
Family is central to Danny’s life. He is devoted to Stephanie, the love of his life, and their four children: Jake, a professional at Pimco; Sophia, a financial analyst at Merrill; Laney, a junior at TCU; and Hadley, a student at Corona Del Mar. Together, they enjoy skiing, golf, travel, and philanthropy.
